Propane
    Publish time 2018-11-20 09:58

Propane, a three-carbon alkane, has the chemical formula C3H8 and the structural formula CH3CH2CH3. It is usually in the gaseous state, but is usually compressed into a liquid state for transportation. After crude oil or natural gas is treated, propane can be obtained from the product. Propane is commonly used as fuel for engines, barbecue food and home heating systems. In marketing, propane is commonly referred to as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and is often mixed with propylene, butane, and butene. Foul-smelling ethyl mercaptan is also commonly added to commercial LPG to detect accidental leaks.

This product exists in petroleum gas, natural gas, coke oven gas and petroleum cracking gas, by separation.
2、Source:

(1) Separation of Oil Field Gas Oil field gas or natural gas contains a small amount of ethane, propane, or other hydrocarbon with more carbon atoms in addition to primarily methane. The liquid obtained from the cryogenic separation of natural gas is ethane and propane. Butane is the main component of light hydrocarbon mixture, its composition is related to the source of natural gas, separation and processing temperature and pressure conditions, typical composition (P) : ethane 37.6%, propane 35.9%, butane 11.6%, isobutane 3.9%, n-pentane 3.1%, other 7.9%.

(2) From the refinery gas separation in the refinery oil processing gas, in addition to containing methane, also contains ethane, propane, carbon four and carbon five hydrocarbon, propane can be separated.

Propane can be separated from cracked gas by cryogenic method.

3、The main use

(1)Feeding of basic petrochemical products prepared by steam cracking.

(2) Used as fuel or pressurized gas in some flame throwers.

(3)The production of propanol raw materials.

(4)The main fuel for hot air balloons.

(5)Used to precipitate emery in semiconductor industry.

(6)Propane mixed with silicon is used as a propellant for an air gun (marketed as green gas) for use in survival games. In some theme parks and movie shoots, liquid propane is used as a cheap, high-energy substance to create explosions and other visual effects.

(7) Propane is mainly found in oilfield gas, natural gas, and refinery gas. Used to make ethylene, propylene, oxygenated compounds and primary nitroalkanes. In the process of production or application have the opportunity to contact.

(8)Used as refrigerant.

Propane, a three-carbon alkane, chemical formula C3H8, usually in the gaseous form but usually compressed into a liquid for transportation.

Propane role

Propane is commonly used as a fuel for barbecues, portable cooking stoves and motor vehicles. LPG is commonly used to power trains, buses, forklifts and taxis, and is also used as a fuel for heating and cooking in recreational vehicles and camping sites. In some rural North America, people use propane to fill heat-producing appliances such as stoves, water heaters and cell phones. By 2000, 6.9 million American homes used propane as their primary fuel. Commercial "propane" fuel, or liquefied petroleum gas, is impure. In the United States and Canada, the main ingredient is 90% propane plus up to 5% butane and propylene and a deodorant. This is a domestic standard in the United States and Canada, often written as the HD-5 standard. It is important to note that liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prepared from methane (natural gas) does not contain propylene, only propane from the refining process of crude oil does. Also, in some other countries, such as Mexico, the standard amount of butane is relatively high.

Other uses of propane include:

(1) Feeding for preparing basic petrochemical products by steam cracking.

(2) Used as fuel or pressurized gas in some flame throwers.

(3) Raw materials for propanol production.

(4.)The main fuel for hot air balloons.

(5)Used to precipitate emery in semiconductor industry

(6) Propane mixed with silicon is used as a propellant for an air gun (marketed as green gas) for use in survival games.

(7)In some theme parks and movie shoots, liquid propane is used as a cheap and high-energy substance to create explosions and other visual effects.

(8)Propane mainly exists in oilfield gas, natural gas, and refinery gas. Used to make ethylene, propylene, oxygenated compounds and primary nitroalkanes. In the process of production or application have the opportunity to contact.
