2、The main source

(1)Normal alkanes, traditional steam cracking propylene as a by-product, is the main source of propylene, the yield of 13%-16%.

(2) Ethylene and butene, disproportionation process, the reaction needs clean, high purity olefin, the yield of 90%-95%;

(3) Gas oil, traditional FCC device, the second largest source of propylene, with an output rate of 7%-9%;

3、The main use

(1) Used for acrylonitrile, propylene oxide, acetone, etc. Used to produce a variety of important organic chemical raw materials, synthetic resin, synthetic rubber and a variety of fine chemicals.

(2)The largest amount of propylene is the production of polypropylene, propylene can make acrylonitrile, isopropanol, phenol and acetone, butanol and octanol, acrylic acid and its lipids and (3)Used as refrigerant R1270

Propylene (C3H6)

Basic information:

English name: propylene

Purity: 99.6%

Specifications: 118L/800L/926L cylinder, tank car

Chemical formula: C3H6

CAS No: 115-07-1

Molecular Weight: 42.081

Physical properties:

Propylene is a colorless, slightly sweet gas at room temperature. Molecular weight 42.08, liquid density 0.5139g/cm3(20/4℃), gas density 1.905 (0℃, 101325pa. abs) freezing point -185.3℃, boiling point -47.4℃. It is slightly narcotic and decomposes completely at 815℃ and 101.325 kPa. Flammable, explosive limit of 2% ~ 11%. Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents, is a kind of low toxic substances.

Chemical properties:

Propylene reacts on methyl groups as well as on alkene bonds. Propylene is polymerized in the presence of acidic catalyst [1] (sulfuric acid, anhydrous hydrofluoric acid, etc.) to form a mixture of dimer, trimer and tetramer, which can be used as a high-octane fuel. Propylene is polymerized in the presence of Ziegler catalyst to form polypropylene. Propylene copolymerizes with ethylene to form ethylene-propylene rubber. Propylene and the generation of the addition reaction of sulfuric acid isopropyl sulfuric acid, the hydrolysis generating isopropyl alcohol: propylene and chlorine and water addition reaction, generate 1 - chloro - 2 - propanol, the latter reaction with bases to form epoxy propane, add enough water to produce propylene glycol, propylene in the presence of acidic catalyst reaction with benzene, generating isopropyl benzene, it is raw material for the synthesis of phenol and acetone. In the presence of acid catalyst (sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, etc.), propene can hydrocarboxylation with isobutane, and the branched-chain alkanes generated can be used as high octane fuel. Propylene in the presence of a catalyst with ammonia and oxygen in the air from the ammonia oxidation reaction, to generate acrylonitrile, it is the synthesis of plastics, rubber, fiber and other polymer raw materials. Propylene is chlorinated at high temperature to form allyl chloride CH2=CHCH2Cl, which is the raw material for the synthesis of glycerol.

Propylene uses:

Propylene is the basic raw material of three synthetic materials.

Propylene consumption is the largest production of polypropylene.Propylene can be produced acrylonitrile, isopropanol, phenol and acetone, butanol and octanol, acrylic acid and its lipids and propylene oxide and propylene glycol, epichlorohydrin and synthetic glycerol, etc.

I. Basic product information

Applications: Refrigerant, rarely used as a refrigerant alone, mainly as a component of a mixed working medium.

4. Operation, disposal and storage

Precautions for operation: airtight operation and comprehensive ventilation. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating rules. Work away from fire and heat.Smoking is strictly prohibited. Use explosion-proof ventilation systems and equipment. Prevent gas leakage into the workplace air. Avoid contact with oxidants and acids. In transmission during the process, cylinders and containers must be grounded and bonded to prevent static electricity. Disload lightly during handling to prevent damage of cylinders and accessories. Equip with the corresponding variety and quantity of fire fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment.Precautions for storage: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. The storage temperature should not exceed 30℃. Should be stored separately from oxidants and acids, and should not be mixed. Explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities are adopted. Do not use any mechanical equipment or work that is easy to generate sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment.
